Property Accountant

Responsibilities include:

Accounts Payable

  • Ensure invoices are properly coded and recorded correctly, including appropriate documentation
  • Ensure accurate timing and payment of all payables  
  • Process all bank request forms (stop payments, voids, reversals, reissues and requests for check copies)
 
Accounts Receivable
  • Ensure cash receipts are recorded correctly 
  • Monitor cash balances and prepare monthly bank statement reconciliations
  • Assist property manager with tenant collections
 
Lease Administration
  • Review tenant leases and ensure tenant accounts are setup correctly
  • Monitor tenant sales reporting and calculate percentage rent  
  • Process tenant move ins & tenant move outs (terminations)
 
General Ledger
  • Reconcile all balance sheet accounts and applicable schedules to ensure accurate reporting 
  • Track capital expenditures
  • Monthly journal entries
  • Financial Reporting
  • Prepare and review timely monthly and quarterly financial statements  
 
Special Projects
  • Prepare and assist property management in annual budget process  
  • Review and calculate annual operating expense recoveries/reconciliations (CAM-RE TAX-INS)
  • Special projects as assigned
 
Position is ideally suited for a well-organized individual who can work independently and has attention to detail.  The company is in an acquisition mode and rapidly growing so the individual must be able to cope and thrive in a constantly changing environment.    
 
Requirements: 
  • Must be organized, concise, detail oriented, team player, flexible and efficient
  • Real Estate experience required, retail real estate experience preferred
  • Yardi experience preferred
  • 2+ years accounting experience in property management
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business is required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and computer literate
  • Ability to hit the ground running
  • Must have good listening skills and be service oriented  
  • Must be able to work independently   
  • Must have a “whatever it takes” attitude
